Best Things to do in Minca: A Complete Travel Guide
1. Top Minca waterfalls to visit
Minca is famous for its stunning waterfalls and visiting them is one of the best things to do in Minca. Cascada de Marinka is the most popular waterfall for a good reason. It is impressive, and the hike there and back is not always easy since Minca is very hilly. The effort is worth it, as you are rewarded with a refreshing swim in the waterfall at the end.
To make the most of your visit, go early in the morning to avoid the crowds and bring sturdy shoes, a swimsuit and a waterproof bag for your belongings. Guided tours are also available if you want a local guide to show you hidden spots along the rivers.
Pro Tip: Withdraw enough cash in Santa Marta or Cartagena as there are no ATMs in Minca. Most local tours, transport and cafes only accept cash.

2. Join a Minca Coffee Farm Tour
One of the best things to do in Minca is to join a coffee farm tour. The region is famous for its high-quality coffee, and visiting a local farm is a fascinating way to learn about the entire process, from planting the beans to roasting them. Finca Victoria is the most famous and one of the oldest coffee farms in Minca, making it a popular choice for visitors who want an authentic experience. Many tours also include tastings, so you can enjoy freshly brewed coffee while taking in the beautiful mountain views.

3. Relax and Unwind in Minca
The best thing to do in Minca? Absolutely nothing. With its stunning mountain views, jungle and the soothing sounds of nature, it is perfect for spending time in a hammock, reading a book, chatting with new friends or simply enjoying the scenery. Taking time to do nothing at all is one of the best things to do in Minca, allowing you to fully appreciate the peaceful atmosphere of the village.
For the ultimate experience, it is worth booking accommodation with a pool so you can relax and cool off while enjoying the views. We stayed at Trekker Glamping – EcoLodge Boutique for my 30th birthday, which was a lovely treat, but there are also more budget friendly options such as Jungle Joe Hostel, which is very social and perfect if you want to meet other travellers.

4. Exploring Minca Village
Minca village is small but full of charm, and exploring it is one of the best things to do in Minca. It is very easy to stay at your hostel or hotel and not venture into town, especially because many of the best accommodations with views are a short drive away rather than walking distance. Some days, it is tempting to just eat, sleep, and relax without leaving.
Make sure you get out and explore, as the village is full of cute shops selling handmade jewellery, bags, and local crafts. There are also many great places to eat, including Duni, which is a favourite for fresh and delicious breakfast. Walking around the village allows you to soak up the local culture and connect with the peaceful atmosphere that makes Minca so special.
5. Minca Yoga and Wellness Experiences
Minca is not just about waterfalls and coffee tours. It is also a haven for wellness and relaxation. Our accommodation offered a wide range of wellness experiences, including yoga classes, guided meditation and even traditional mushroom ceremonies. Many other hostels and lodges in the area also offer free daily yoga sessions, making it easy to incorporate wellness into your stay.
In addition to yoga, wellness offerings often include meditation sessions, sound baths, herbal workshops and spa treatments such as massages using locally sourced oils. Spending a morning in a yoga class or an afternoon in meditation is one of the best things to do in Minca for anyone looking to relax and reconnect with themselves and nature.

6. Minca Chocolate/Cocoa Farm
One of the most unique experiences in Minca is visiting a chocolate farm. Our tour showed us the entire process, from harvesting the cocoa pods to processing the beans into chocolate. We even got to wear chocolate face masks and taste the chocolate at every stage of production, which made the experience fun and interactive.
It was a fascinating way to learn about how chocolate is made, and a great opportunity to connect with local farmers who are passionate about their craft. Personally, I discovered that I prefer processed sugar to real chocolate — oops! — but the hands-on experience and beautiful farm setting made it one of the best things to do in Minca.

7. A Local Indigenous Tour Experience
One of my favourite experiences in Minca was a tour organised by our hotel to celebrate my birthday, led by a local indigenous guide. He did not speak English, so we hired a translator to help communicate, which made the experience even more immersive.
During the tour, he shared the way of his life and showed us how to make traditional jewellery using natural materials. I could not believe that some of the beads we use on bracelets actually come from plants growing in the wild! He also taught us which foods we could eat that grow naturally in the jungle.
The tour included visits to the popular spots mentioned earlier, but with his local knowledge, insights into indigenous beliefs and personal stories, it became far more meaningful. Learning directly from him about the traditions, the environment, and the way of life made this day one of the most special and memorable experiences in Minca.
Pro Tip: Always ask for permission before you take photographs of local people or their homes. It is a vital sign of respect and helps to maintain a positive relationship between travellers and the community.

8. Day Trip to Tayrona National Park
If you are short on time, taking a day trip to Tayrona National Park is one of the best things to do in Minca if you want to see the coast.
The park is just a couple hours drive away, making it possible to explore the jungle, beaches and wildlife without spending the night. Many local tour operators and hostels offer organized day trips, including transport and guided walks, so you can make the most of your visit.
