6 Continents. 44 Countries. A Lifetime of Stories.

My travel story started with a single solo flight and a lot of “what am I doing?” thoughts. Since then I have travelled 44 countries across 6 continents and learnt to research destinations for myself rather than letting other people’s opinions put me off travelling somewhere. I have made plenty of mistakes along the way and learnt a lot about what is actually worth doing, what I would skip and what I wish I had known before I went. Where Katie Goes is a travel blog for women ready to leave those what ifs behind, find honest travel advice and finally book that flight.

Salt Water & Dragon Sunsets: Our 4 Day Journey to Komodo

There is no better way to reach Komodo than by boat. We spent four days sailing from Lombok to Labuan Bajo, stopping at Pink Beach, hiking Padar Island for sunrise and swimming straight from the boat along the way. We slept on the boat every night and met travellers from all over the world before eventually reaching Komodo National Park. Here is exactly what it is like to sail the Flores Sea.

7 Best Things to do in Salento: Colombia’s Most Colourful Escape

Salento ended up being my favourite place in Colombia. For such a small town there is soooo much to do, from hiking among the giant wax palms in Cocora Valley to playing Tejo with explosions and beer. We also went horseback riding through the countryside to a small coffee farm and spent far too much time taking photos of the colourful streets lol. Here are the 7 things I recommend doing in Salento.

Hi! I’m Katie!

Welcome to Where Katie Goes, a travel blog for women (and any man who might find me funny) ready to see the world. My story started in 2017 with a one way ticket and a plan to travel solo for six months. 8 years and 44 countries later, I am still going (sorry mum!).

While I usually travel with my fiancé these days I am the one behind the maps, the bookings and the itineraries. I might have started as a go with the flow backpacker but now I research every trip to death because I hate the thought of getting home and realising I missed something. It also means I can tell you what was actually worth doing and what I would skip next time.

I am here to share honest travel advice, the itineraries I actually use, plenty of photos and all the things I wish I had known before each trip. Whether you are looking for a complete travel guide or just a few ideas for your next trip, I hope something here helps you plan it.
