Austria

austria

Austria is the ultimate culture hub of Europe- even being there I felt I was automatically more sophisticated than I actually am. Although it is a little pricier than some of its neighbours; it has the THE most beautiful architecture in the world and is a must see destination.

Big Spender-£70-80 p/p a day. This would include staying in luxury hostels, eating in restaurants at least 2 meals day, visiting all top attractions and experiencing the nightlife.

Sensible Thinker-£55-£60 p/p a day. This would mean staying at good hostels-possibly private rooms, eating out for at least one meal a day, visiting some top attractions and sometimes experiencing the nightlife.

Shoestring-£40 p/p a day. Staying in dorms in okay hostels, cooking your own food the majority of the time and getting local transport.

How to get around

Austria is a dream to travel as the trains are so advanced you can get around the country- or out of it very quickly and comfortably. Like everything else here, tickets can be quite expensive so make sure you book in advance or use your interrail ticket- beward, you will most likely need a seat reservation too.

Best Time to Visit

This entirely depends on your personal preferences- the weather is beautiful in the Summer time, however experiencing Winter in Austria really is unreal. I would also recommend checking events in your chosen destinations; it would be a shame not to experience an opera or symphony whilst here- tickets can be cheap when booked in advance.

5.5/10

Austria is a really beautiful country and is not one to be missed. However it wasn’t one of my favourites- it almost felt too beautiful and too clean that I was spoiling it just being there. It was also too pricey for me to enjoy, but I would still recommend a short trip here.

Happy travelling!
